Sunday 18th June to end September - Jurassic Jubilee - Jubilee Park, Kirkby Stephen
Children of Kirkby Stephen and surrounding villages have been creating brightly coloured dinosaurs and murals in workshops with artist Sarah Hicks. These will be hidden in the woods of this nature reserve for local families and visitors to find throughout the summer months.
Project inspiration by Kirkby Stephen Walkers are Welcome and Kirkby Stephen Community Arts.
Part funding by Cumbria Community Foundation.

Silver Street Gardens have been yard bombed with knitted flowers.
Boots have been planted by children with vegetables, herbs and salad crops to welcome walkers and have been dotted around the town alongside the usual spectacular floral arrangements.
Pick up a historic town trail leaflet from the Upper Eden Visitor Centre or download http://www.walkeden.org/Things-to-do.aspx and discover the back alleys of the Conservation Area where history stands still.
The Kirkby Stephen Family Adventure 3K Trail has lots to look out for along the route plus a long list of free and inexpensive family activities to keep everyone entertained whatever the weather. There is a new display of Saxon stones in the Kirkby Stephen Parish Church, Cathedral of the Dales alongside the world renown Viking Loki Stone.
Add in the art galleries and antique shops to complete the picture.

Kirkby Stephen starts Cumbria’s first Repair Café
What do you do with a broken toaster? Or with a bike when the wheel runs out of true? Or with a sweater full of moth holes? Bin it? No way! Kirkby Stephen Community Arts and Kirkby Stephen and Upper Eden Good Neighbours Scheme are organising Cumbria’s first Repair Café in Kirkby Stephen Local Links on Wednesday 5 July at 2pm.
At Kirkby Stephen Local Links, on Wednesday 5 July everything is about making repairs. Starting from 2pm and ending at 4pm various volunteer repair experts will be available to help make all possible repairs free of charge. Tools and materials will also be on hand. People visiting the Repair Café will bring along their broken items from home. Toasters, lamps, hair dryers, clothes, toys, crockery... anything that is broken is welcome.

The Penrith Agricultural Society held the first Penrith Show in 1834. Since then this annual celebration is held on the 4th Saturday in July each year, with this show on 22nd July.
The show has gathered much momentum in recent years. With a wide spectrum of competition classes for farm livestock, arable, horses, rabbits, poultry, show jumping, industrial and horticulture, to a host of trade stands, food hall and rural crafts marquee.
All this and the tremendous variation of main ring attractions provide entertainment for all the family and friends. A great day out whatever your age!

We go back to Bainbridge to help dig some more and hopefully see what has been found . Anorther chance to go back and see what happens after an artefact has been unearthed.

Relay for life is a year-round team fundraising challenge organised by a dedicated volunteer committee bringing communities together to beat cancer. Teams of friends and family sign up to enter and fundraise for life-saving cancer research, then join a 24-hour celebration showing that together we are stronger than cancer.

11.30 am to 3.00 pm. Free drop in for accompanied 5 to 12 year olds - all you need to bring with you is an adult for any tricky stuff, shoes you can paddle in and a towel (as long as the river isn't in flood!).

Running - Westmorland Dales Fun Run 11am - 8 miles, 11am 4.5 miles. A choice of two routes will take you on a scenic journey along rural tracks and through undulating countryside, offering an inside view of the wonderful Westmorland Dales and links to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Walk 1 - Smardale Gill Nature Reserve 14.00 to 16.300
Exploring geology and landscape with Cumbria Wildlife Trust - easy.
An easy walk along the disused railway line of Smardale Gill Nature Reserve, now in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Looking for evidence of underlying rocks and geological processes which have shaped the landscape we see today. Meet Newbiggin-on-Lune where the roads to Great Asby and Kelleth meet the A685. Walk 2 - Hartley circular walk 10.00 to 15.00ish 9km (5.5 miles) with 300m ascent - medium
A new circular walk on John Strutt Foundation nature reserve land in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with Kirkby Stephen Walkers are Welcome and Cumbria Wildlife Trust members, looking at botany and wildlife in the varying habitats
Walk 3 - Kirkby Stephen history through time 14.00 - 1.5 hours
A leisurely walk around Kirkby Stephen Conservation Area exploring the alleys and streets from the Anglo-Saxons to the 20th century.
Meet Upper Eden Visitor Centre, Kirkby Stephen CA17 4QN. Walk can be adjusted for wheelchair users. Donations welcome.
