Bents Camping Barn

Bents Camping Barn was formerly a shepherd's cottage in 1600.  You will need sleeping bags, walking boots and warm clothes.  There are two sleeping rooms with bunks.   On the ground floor there is a kitchen cooking area, dining room with tables and benches and WC with washbasins. 

Electric lighting, power points, £1 coin meter, crockery, pans, cutlery, toaster, microwave, 3 electric cooking rings, 2 electric kettles and electric heaters.  The Barn is on the Coast to Coast path, there is good fell walking on the Howgill Fells, Wild Boar Fell and Crosby Garrett Common.  Smardale Gill Nature Reserve and Sunbiggin Tarn nearby.  The area is ideal for mountain biking, Settle-Carlisle Railway 5 miles away at Kirkby Stephen, shop and pub 2 miles away at Ravenstonedale.

Directions: GR MY 708 065 OS Map 91.  From Junction 38 of M6 take A685 to Newbiggin-on-Lune, take Great Asby Road on the left, then first right through tall gate.  Look for Bents Farm sign and follow tarmac road past Tower House, then follow signs up farm track.  Parking at farm.

Booking is essential for groups and at weekends.  Price per night £8 (full Barn £96 per night).
