Well now you can, at the carefully restored station at Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria on the world famous Settle & Carlisle line.  Built in 1875, the station was brought back to its former glory in 2005 by the Settle and Carlisle Railway Trust.  Kirkby Stephen is a working mainline station with a regular year round passenger service.  

The station offers two self-catering holiday lets.

Oscar House is a detached house finished in local stone.  Located on the edge of Kirkby Stephen, Oscar House has the best of both worlds with views onto open countryside but within minutes by foot to be in the centre of Kirkby.

Oscar House has two double bedrooms and a luxury bathroom downstairs, upstairs a large kitchen/diner leading to a comfortable lounge.

Our newly opened campsite located to the north of Kirkby Stephen is quietly situated in open countryside but just five to ten minutes walk from the town and its amenities.  Our two acre site has its southern boundary on the banks of the River Eden and, being a site of special scientific interest (SSSI), has lots of interesting wildlife and plants as well as being a lovely calming place to relax.  

The Old Sweet Shop

The cottage is in the conservation area of Kirkby Stephen so the shops, cafes and pubs are all within easy walking distance (200 yards) of the house.  Built in the 19th century, the house was once the village sweet shop. It was converted to a residence in the early 1990s.

Cranesbill Barn offers comfortable, charming and tasteful self-catering accommodation for five people and an infant.  It is situated in the middle of the village of Newbiggin-on-Lune.  The house was originally built as a barn in the 19th century and retains many of the barn's rustic features.  It is open throughout the year.

Klondyke has an enclosed garden with large lawn, borders and patio, great for al fresco summer dining.  Pets are welcome with easy access to the nearby fells and country lanes.

Sandbed is a delightful two bedroom cottage situated in a superb rural location at the foot of Harter Fell, part of the spectacular Howgills.
To the front of the cottage there is a breathtaking view of Wild Boar Fell with the Fellend 'clouds' in the foreground, where you can explore the clints and grikes while looking for fossils of long forgotten creatures in the limestone paving.
