Kirkby Stephen has a Community Tennis Programme and state of the art Airdome covering three championship standard tennis courts in winter.

Kirkby Stephen Community Tennis Programme

Kirkby Stephen Community Tennis Programme runs coaching and competitive programmes for players of all standards and ages, from 5 upwards.  Sessions are held on the outdoor tennis courts at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School and Sports College (under the air dome in winter). 
There are sessions for players of different ages and abilities from Monday to Thursday after school and also on Saturdays.  The College is an accredited centre for mini tennis and coaching and competitions in red, orange and green stages of mini tennis take place.  Sessions are then run for players of all satndards up to county/national level.
The coaches are LTA qualified and licensed and fully CRB checked.  Gary Payton, Head Coach and Programme Manager, is a GB international player and captain of Wales.  He has played top level tennis for more than 30 years and coached at the highest level of the game.  Community Tennis Coach Lee Burrell, a Cumbria County and National Club League player, is also a highly experienced coach.

Kirkby Stephen Airdome

Kirkby Stephen's state-of-the-art airdome covers three championship standard tennis courts in the winter, providing the community with the opportunity to play tennis all year round.  The courts are all floodlit and during the winter are available most weekday evenings from around 6pm, Saturdays from 4pm and Sundays from 10am.  The facility is available for hire to anyone in the community and can also be used for other activities including netball, badminton, fitness training, martial arts, athletics etc.
