Upper Eden Community Plan

Published in 2008, the Upper Eden Community Plan (UECP) was a collaborative project involving 17 parishes in the Upper Eden area together with members of the local community and a range of local organisations and groups.

The Upper Eden Parishes include:-

Hellbeck, Winton, Nateby, Hartley, Kaber, Mallerstang, Waitby, Musgrave, Brough Sowerby, Wharton, Soulby, Brough, Stainmore, Warcop, Crosby Garrett, Ravenstonedale and Newbiggin, Kirkby Stephen.

The purpose of a Parish or Community Plan is to reflect the concerns and aspirations of local people with a view to informing and influencing local and national government policies, actions and provision of services.  A Community Plan gives everyone a chance to say what they think about social, economic and environmental issues affecting the community and how they’d like to see the area improved.

UECP 2018 refresh Project:

In July 2017, The Upper Eden Community Interest Company (CIC), in partnership with Eden District Council launched a review of the 2008 plan, recognising significant changes at a local, regional and national level since it was originally published.

The Project Officer Kellie Bradburn-Sims has been working with the UECP Steering Group, who represent the 17 parishes of Upper Eden, to review the achievements of the 2008 plan and gain an understanding of the issues and aspirations of the local community today. This has been an extremely useful part of the review process and identified local projects, services, activities and improvements that have created significant benefit for the Upper Eden Community.

Public Consultation 05/03/18 – 05/04/18:
On 5th March 2018 the group launched a five week public consultation to hear directly from members of the local community about the issues they are facing and their aspirations for the future of the area.  The outcomes of the consultation will be used to refresh the Upper Eden Community Plan “Aims”, to ensure the plan objectives continue to meet the needs of the people who live and work here.

The UECP Group are encouraging all members of the Upper Eden Community to participate in the Public Consultation and share their views and aspirations for the future of Upper Eden.
