Thursday 1st December – Upper Eden Memory Club – Kirkby Stephen Methodist Church Hall

Thursday 1st December – Dawdles Walk – Kirkby Stephen West Station – Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30 for car share

Car share to Kirkby Stephen West Station 1.7 miles, for this linear walk. Firstly, down the tarmacked Station Walk joining Wharton Road.  Walk through Jubilee Park and joining South Road/Croglam Lane into town for optional refreshments.  We will arrange car share to pick up cars left at the station. This walk may be suitable for wheelchairs and small powered mobility scooters at their own risk, please contact us.

Saturday 3rd December – Stainmore Railway and Kirkby Stephen Community Christmas Fayre – Stainmore Railway Company

Community Christmas Fayre with a  up to 20 stalls and miniature traction engine rides.  Local businesses and community groups will showcase their skills and a great chance to buy Christmas gifts in an historic Victorian Railway Station.  We have a well stocked shop and catering in our 1930s buffet car carriage.

Due to limited parking on site there will be a free park and ride scheme between the town centre and KSE provided by Cumbria Classic Coaches (see website for details) www.kirkbystepheneast.co.uk
We will also provide bus service from the mainline station Kirkby Stephen on the Settle and Carlisle line.  Disabled parking is available on site.

Free admission and no pre-booking required. 10 am to 4 pm

Saturday 3rd December – Eden Animal Rescue Fundraising Stall – The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen

Please come and support our special Christmas Stall. We have Sweet Picallicill, Christmas Chutney, Tangy Marmalade, Plum Jam, Blackcurrant Jam, Gooseberry,Rhubarb and Ginger Jam. There will be Quiches, Fruit Pies (Plum, Apple, and Rhubarb), also Gingerbread, Bakewell Tart, Victoria Sponge.  Sponge Puddings – Syrup, Plum and Pear, Shortbread and Ginger Biscuits. The Preserves and Biscuits are decorated for Christmas and would make a suitable small gift. Gill and Barbara look forward to see you all again soon and thank you for your continued support, which is very much appreciated, especially in these difficult times.  The stall will be open from 9.00 am til 2.00 pm.

Saturday 3rd December – Country and Western Party Night – The Inn at Brough

Rodeo bull and live western music…. Are you brave enough to ride the bull? Disco, dancing and live entertainment from 6.00 pm onwards.  Tickets available from The Inn or call 017683 41252.  £12 per ticket, dressing up optional.

Wednesday 7th December – `Positive Thinking and Self-Esteem Taster’ – a FREE course by Cumbria County Council – The Masonic Hall

Thursday 8th December – Dawdles Walk – Hartley Fold and Slack Gap Lane – Meet at The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen 10:30

We will head out of Kirkby Stephen on Hartley Lane and through Hartley Fold. Turning down Winton Road picking up the Slack Gap Lane B.O.A.T. We return to Kirkby Stephen on Kirkbank Lane and over Eden Bridge. This walk may be suitable for wheelchairs and small powered mobility scooters at their own risk, please contact us.

Friday 9th December – Christmas Dominoes – Brough Memorial Hall

For Brough Agricultural Society.  Great prizes.  Excellent raffle.  Begins 7.30 pm.

Saturday 10th December – Santa’s coming to Brough ….- Memorial Hall 

From 10 am.  Adults – free admission, £5 per child to include – write a letter to Santa, visit Santa for a small gift, decorate a gingerbread man, make paper chains, reindeer food, juice and biscuits.  Tickets and times must be booked beforehand through Brough Pre-School on 017683 42112

Saturday 10th December – Great North Air Ambulance Bag Collection & Christmas coffee morning – Warcop Parish Hall

Sunday 11th December – Brough Remote Cinema presents `Elvis’ – Brough Memorial Hall

“Blistering turbo charged chronicle of the King”, with an Oscar winning performance from Austin Butler as Elvis.

Doors open 2.30 pm, film starts 3.00 pm. Tickets £5.  All tickets must be pre-booked; please phone Ailsa on 017683 42390.  There will be a raffle during the interval.  Please bring your own refreshments.

Tuesday 13th December – Eden Hearing Services – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

10 am to 12 noon. Eden Hearing Services run their clinics for anyone needing repairs or servicing to their hearing aids, here at the Local Links on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  This service is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY – please ring Robert Bolton on 07846 512366.  Hearing aid batteries can be provided here at Local Links, free of charge, if you are registered at a doctors in Eden.  Our opening hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am to 12 noon, and 1 pm to 3 pm. Please bring details of the battery size you require.

Wednesday 14th December – `Merrily on High, a History of the English Christmas Carol’ – Appleby Market Hall

Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren front this stellar British caper recounting the 1961 theft of Goya’s The Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery.

9 am to 4.00 pm.  Brough Farmers’ & Artisan Market invite you to their Christmas Market weekend.  Come along, give Amazon a rest, see what our local craft people have to offer and not available elsewhere.

Wednesday 21st December – Brough Christmas Variety Show 2022 – Brough Memorial Hall
