Saturday 1st December – Christmas Fayre in aid of Kirkby Stephen Grammar School – The Kings Arms Ballroom

11am to 4pm.  We have a wide range of stalls from handmade glass gifts, jewellery, cakes, books and cards.

Saturday 1st December – Crafting for Christmas – Warcop Village Hall 

10am to 2pm.  Come and chat with friends, enjoy a festive treat.  Decorate a gift bag.  Make a Christmas cracker.  Hama bead decoration for your tree.  Bling up a bauble.  Design and make your own cards.  Make your own snow globe.  Tealight snowman and so much more.  £5 inclusive for all craft activities. Homemade soup, bread, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, available.  Also raffle, bake sale, Christmas quiz.  In aid of Red Squirrels Nursery.

Playing covers from 8pm.

Monday 3rd December – Drop in in the Baptist Church, Victoria Square, Kirkby Stephen – 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon, call in for a cuppa, lively chat, games.

Monday 3rd December  –  Cumbria Wildlife Trust – `The Ospreys of Foulshaw Moss’ – The Friends Meeting House, Kirkby Stephen

2.30 – 4.30pm

Paul Waterhouse, The Trust’s Southern Reserves Officer, will give us an insight into the lives of the ospreys which have chosem Foulshaw Moss as a place to nest and breed.

The CWT Upper Eden Support Group runs a variety of activities to support the Trust’s work.  Everyone is welcome to join us for our talks,  which take place at The Friends Meeting House, 48A High St, Kirkby Stephen, CA17 4SH.

Thursdays 6th & 20th December – Upper Eden Memory Club – The Friends Meeting House, High Street, Kirkby Stephen

10.30am to 12 noon.

We continue to meet alternate Thursdays at the Friends Meeting House (opposite the Spar Shop), where we enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee followed by guided activities and usually end with singing some favourite songs of old.

Saturday 8th December – Christmas Tree Festival and Exhibition of Children’s Artwork – Brough Methodist Church

You are invited to decorate a tree; you may enter as a family, group, organisation, business or on your own.  This year theme is `Weather‘.  Judging will take place before the church opens to visitors on Saturday.  Each entry will be provided with a 5ft artificial tree to decorate with your chosen decorations (only battery lights please). The church will be open on Friday 7th December from 4pm to 8pm for tree decoration and setting up.  On Saturday 8th December the Church will open from 10am to 4pm and refreshments will be available.  The exhibits will remain in place until after the New Year Services at the Church.

Saturday 8th December – St Michaels Christmas Dinner – The Church Hall, Church Brough

Traditional 4 course Christmas meal.  5pm for 5.30pm.  £12 for adults £5 for children.  Free Taxi Service available by request.  Bring your own alcohol/soft drinks.  Entertainment includes – prize bingo, carol singing, quick quiz, raffle and visit from Santa.  Limited seating and tickets must be purchased in advance from Diane 41219, Lesley (WOW group 07508 355523 or Rachel 07890 756 760). 🎄🎅

Sunday 9th December – Santa Train Event – The East Station, South Road, Kirkby Stephen

Cost £8.50 per child with one accompanying adult – includes train ride, meeting Santa in his grotto and an age appropriate gift. Additional adults are £4 each, parking is free and the first train is at 10.30am.

Monday 10th December  – Upper Eden History Society presents `The Story of Cumbria’s Co-operative Society’ Talk by Bill Myers – Kirkby Stephen Grammar School

Includes tea, coffee and Christmas cake.  The Upper Eden History Society meets October to April 7.30pm, in the Coffee Bar, Kirkby Stephen Grammar School, for a series of monthly lectures, usually the third Monday in each month.  Visitors very welcome.  £3 per meeting.

Tuesday 11th December – `Internet Shopping and Online Security’ – Appleby Heritage Centre

FREE Course over 2 weeks from 9.30 to 12.00.

Saturday 15th December – North and West Young Rangers Christmas Party 

It is our Christmas Party, we will be joining Ranger James to make some bird and bat boxes to put in the local area and also one for you to take home.  We are also hoping to do some other Christmas themed activities to celebrate the end of the year!

Tuesday 18th December – Eden Hearing Services Drop In Session – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

Eden Hearing Services hold a drop in clinic from 10.00am to 12 noon 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Services include advice on hearing aids and specialist equipment, hearing aids cleaned and retubed, batteries supplied.
