Thursdays 3rd & 17th December – Thursday People – Brough Methodist Church

10.30am to 12 noon.

Brough Memory Club has now relaunched as the Thursday People meeting at Brough Methodist Chuch again on alternate Thursdays.  This group is now for all who want to come together for a chat over tea/coffee with optional activities or crafts.

Thursday 10th December – Upper Eden Memory Club – Kirkby Stephen Methodist Church

10.30am to 12 noon.

We continue to meet alternate Thursdays at KIrkby Stephen Methodist Church (opposite the Spar Shop), where we enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee followed by guided activities and usually end with singing some favourite songs of old.

Thursday 5th December – Dementia Friendly Walks for all in the Westmorland Dales – Learning Fields Centre, Nags Head Farm, Hoff, Appleby

10.30 am to 11.30am. Easy guided walk to discover the beautiful landscape, wildlife & culture with our friendly group of volunteers.  This is the first trial walk and if well received, we provide guided walks across the area in Spring 2020, offering a gentle Strollers group and a Striders group for those wishing to explore further.  Maxiumum 1 mile.  For people living with dementia & carers/family.  Tea/coffee and cake provided in a cosy meeting space.  Toilet facilities.  Walking boots essential.

Thursday 12th December – Alison Neil presents `Mrs Beaton, My Sister’ – Soulby Village Hall

Mrs Beeton, My Sister recalls the extraordinary life of Mrs Beeton.  The eldest of 21 children and brought up in the Grand Stand at Epsom Race Course, Isabella Beeton fell for a publisher and joined his rackety life in journalism, culminating in her world-famous `Book of Household Management’ in 1861.  Award-winning playwright Alison Neil provides a lively retelling of the entertaining and moving story of Isabella Beeton’s surprising life, seen through the eyes of her endearing sister, Bessie.

Saturday 14th December – Air Ambulance Drop-in Collection & Coffee Morning – Warcop Parish Hall

Coffee morning 10.00 to 11.30am, the GNAA van will collect bags at 11.30am.  There will be an extra collection session on Friday 13th December at the Hall from 7.00 – 8.00pm if you can’t attend on Saturday.

Monday 16th December – Upper Eden HIstory Society presents `Around the Farmhouse Fireplace’ talk given by Christine Craghill – Kirkby Stephen Grammar School

The Upper Eden History Society meets October to April 7.30pm, in the Coffee Bar, Kirkby Stephen Grammar School, for a series of monthly lectures, usually the third Monday in each month.  Visitors very welcome.  £3 per meeting.

Tuesday 17th December – Eden Hearing Services Drop In Session – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

Eden Hearing Services hold a drop in clinic from 10.00am to 12 noon 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Services include advice on hearing aids and specialist equipment, hearing aids cleaned and retubed, batteries supplied.

Saturday 21st December – Brough Famers’ Market – Memorial Hall, Brough

9.30am – 2pm. Stock up with your Christmas food supplies from our stalls. Buy lamb, beef, pork, fish, poultry, eggs, bread, cheeses, cakes, photography, jewellery, textiles and much much more, from our regular stalls.
