Thursdays 6th & 20th June – Thursday People – Brough Methodist Church

10.30am to 12 noon.

Brough Memory Club has now relaunched as the Thursday People meeting at Brough Methodist Chuch again on alternate Thursdays.  This group is now for all who want to come together for a chat over tea/coffee with optional activities or crafts.

Saturday 8th June – The Botany and Geology of Asby Scar by Cumbria Wildlife Trust 

10am to mid pm.  Take a walk on the limestone pavements of Asby Scar to study its unique geology and flora.  The ground underfoot can be slippery and uneven, and participants should be prepared for this.

Booking required: email Richard Arrowsmith [email protected] Joining instructions will be given on booking.  There is a suggested donation of £3 for walks.  All walks will require outdoor clothing – please remember the weather may change and the terrain may be rough.  Walking boots are recommended.

Monday 10th June – Cumbria Wildlife Trust presents `The Lost Words’: wild tales from the Coast to Coast trail – Friends Meeting House, 48 High Street, Kirkby Stephen

7.30pm.  An evening of music, beautiful pictures and amazing wildlife stories with CWT’s Jamie Normington, who’s walking Coast to Coast and visiting villages and schools each day along the way.

Thursdays 13th & 27th June – Upper Eden Memory Club – Kirkby Stephen Methodist Church

10.30am to 12 noon.

We continue to meet alternate Thursdays at KIrkby Stephen Methodist Church (opposite the Spar Shop), where we enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee followed by guided activities and usually end with singing some favourite songs of old.

Eden Hearing Services hold a drop in clinic from 10.00am to 12 noon 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Services include advice on hearing aids and specialist equipment, hearing aids cleaned and retubed, batteries supplied.

Thursday 20th June  – Warcop Remote Cinema presents – `Peterloo’ (12A) – Warcop Parish Hall

Starring Maxine Peake and Rory Kinnear, directed by Mike Leigh.  An epic portrayal of the events surrounding the infamous 1819 Peterloo Massacre, where a peaceful pro-democracy rally at St Peter’s Field in Manchester turned into one of the bloodiest and most notorious episodes in British history.

Saturday 22nd June – Conservation day at Argill Woods Nature Reserve – by Cumbria Wildlife Trust

1pm to 4pm.  Why not join members of the Upper Eden Local Support Group on their annual bracken bashing visit to this attractive, but, little known nature reserve?  Meet at layby near the former Hard Hills Riding Centre GR:NY 841148 (on the old A66).  If you have a suitable tool for tackling bracken, bring it with you and do make sure that you have boots and gloves.
