From 2 – 4pm.  Kirkby Stephen Repair Cafe helps to reduce waste sent to landfill, saving money and resources by using expert volunteers to fix everyday household items.

We have a friendly team of DIY and sewing experts ready to take on your repairs.  Bring along any clean clothes, electricals, jewellery, toys, small items of furniture etc…that are in need of attention and we will do what we can to help!

FREE Training: Get Safe Online

Open to all:  Funded by the Cumbria Police Crime Commissioner to reduce cyber-crime in Cumbria and delivered by Get Safe Online – the UK’s leading source of unbiased, factual and easy-to-understand information on online safety.  The training will provide you with simple information to help keep yourself and your communities safe through topics such as: creating secure passwords, shopping and banking online securely, social media and how to prevent and report fraud, identitiy theft and abuse.  Everyone who attends will gain their Cyber Proficiency Certificate.

Kirkby Stephen Community Arts are partnering with Stomping Ground this Summer to deliver AT THE RIVERSIDE, a programme of free events to celebrate a new river trail for Kirkby Stephen, and supported by Eden Rivers Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund.  Events are open to all ages unless otherwise specified.  For more information visit http://www.kirkbystephencommunityarts.co.uk

Saturday 16th June –  Cumbria Wildlife Trust – Conservation day at Argill Woods Nature Reserve –  Argill Woods Nature Reserve.

Join us for our annual bracken bashing visit to this attractive nature reserve.  Without this sort of activity, some of the flower-rich pastures would become dominated by bracken.  If you have a suitable tool for tackling bracken, bring it with you, and do make sure you have boots and gloves

Eden Hearing Services hold a drop in clinic from 10.00am to 12 noon 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Services include advice on hearing aids and specialist equipment, hearing aids cleaned and retubed, batteries supplied.


Thursday 21st June – Mini Stompers – Jubilee Park, Kirkby Stephen

This is a monthly gathering for two hours of wooldand fun for 0-5 year olds and their parents, friends or carers.10am to 12pm

Mini Stompers gives families and friends time to get down and dirty (as the opposite of up and clean) with each other and PLAY.  It’s an opportunity to turn off the logistics machine in our brain and really spend some time trying to see that crazy monster in the mud pile which is so real for our wee ones.  Play is the tool our children use to learn how to live life and Mini Stompers is the perfect place for them to use that tool and for you to spend time immersed in their world.

Saturday 30th June – Kirkby Stephen 24 hour hockey festival – Kirkby Stephen Grammar School

This summer Kirkby Stephen Hockey Club are holding a 24 hour hockey festival with entertainment and refreshments for all of the family, spectators welcome.  U8, U10, U12, U14, U18 matches will be held through the day with adult ladies, mixed, and men’s games running through into the night finishing at 9am on Sunday 1st July.

The aim is to raise funds to replace the all weather synthetic pitch located at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School, it is over twenty years ond and belongs to Kirkby Stephen Community Sports Association.  It is hoped that Phase 1 will raise £200,00 to replace the pitch and Phase 2 will fund £60,000 to upgrade the lights and replace the LED’s.  KSCSA has set up a working group with volunteers from the community to help source funding.  The initial pitch build was funded by EDC and the Lottery and has provided an all weather facility for sports clubs from the whole of the Eden Valley and all of the children who attend Kirkby Stephen Grammar School.
