Thursday 2nd June – The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations – Kirkby Stephen

Fancy dress (decades of the Queen’s reign 1950’s – 2020’s) walking parade down South Road to the Market square. Convene at the caravan park approx 9.30 am then set off at 10.00 am. Waving flags will be provided free of charge to all walkers.
There will be trampolines and a striker for the kids on Stoneshot carpark and dinky donuts in the Market Square.
A bring and share picnic will be in the Church grounds from 12 pm and a BBQ which will be raising money for the town’s Christmas lights.
A dog show will be happening behind Local Links from 10.30 am (contact KS Dog Training club for details)

 

Thursday 2nd June – Sunday 5th June – Exhibition re The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations – Kirkby Stephen Parish Church

The Church will host an exhibition to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.  It will include memorabilia and artwork by local children.  Entry is free and all are welcome.

Thursday 2nd June – Concert re The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations – Kirkby Stephen Parish Church

Starts 6.30pm.  Local groups and individuals of all ages will take part to celebrate the occasion.  Entry is fee and everyone is welcome to attend.

Thursday 2nd June and Friday 3rd June – Exhibition of quilts and more – Masonic Hall. Kirkby Stephen

10 am – 4 pm.  A display of some of the beautiful work of quilters and knitters of Kirkby Stephen and Upper Eden, as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.  Entrance £3, includes free tombola ticket, all proceeds to Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Friday 3rd June – Jubilee Show – Kirkby Stephen Sports and Social Club

2-4 pm. All That Jazz Tap, Welcome Singers and Better Balance Seated exercise.

Saturday 4th June – Eden Animal Rescue Fundraising Stall – The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen

We are selling our usual home-made preserves, marmalade, picalilli and chutney, plus some seasonal jams when available.  We also do home baking.  Gill and Barbara look forward to see you all again soon and thank you for your continued support, which is very much appreciated, especially in these difficult times.  The stall will be open from 9.00am til 1.30 pm.

Saturday 4th June – Platinum Jubilee Celebration at Brough – various locations

1-3 pm Children’s Sports Festival – Football pitch
4 pm Fancy Dress Parade – meet at the Memorial Hall at 3.45pm
4.30 pm Duck Race
5-10 pm Street part on Bridge Street.

To celebrate Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.  Begins 2.30 pm.  Everyone invited.

Sunday 12th June – `The Yomp’ Fell Run – Kirkby Stephen

The Upper Eden Mountain Challenge – 20K is a race, 10K is a walk or run.  Supporting `Bendrigg Trust’ Activity Centre and Northern Viaduct Trust (Smardale Viaduct) & Rotary Nominated Charities.  Enter on line or on the day.  For more information visit http://www.yomp.org

Tuesday 14th June – Eden Hearing Services – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

10 am to 12 noon. Eden Hearing Services run their clinics for anyone needing repairs or servicing to their hearing aids, here at the Local Links on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  This service is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY – please ring Robert Bolton on 07846 512366.  Hearing aid batteries can be provided here at Local Links, free of charge, if you are registered at a doctors in Eden.  Our opening hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am to 12 noon, and 1 pm to 3 pm. Please bring details of the battery size you require.
