Brough Memory Club has now relaunched as the Thursday People meeting at Brough Methodist Chuch again on alternate Thursdays.  This group is now for all who want to come together for a chat over tea/coffee with optional activities or crafts.

Friday 8th to Sunday 10th May – Warcop Art & Craft Exhibition 2020 – Warcop Parish Hall

Our fifth annual Art & Craft Exhibition at Warcop Parish Hall over the Bank Holiday, from 10 – 4pm each day.  In addition, you are cordially invited to our Private Viewing evening on on Thursday 7th May from 7 – 9pm, when you will be able to meet the artists and browse the work on display.  There will be light refreshments and live music from the Eden Trio, and members of the press will also be present.  Our exhibition is designed to celebrate local talent across a range of media, their art and craft.  We would love to see you there, both at the evening and over the weekend, to show your support for our talented local artists.

We continue to meet alternate Thursdays at KIrkby Stephen Methodist Church (opposite the Spar Shop), where we enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee followed by guided activities and usually end with singing some favourite songs of old.

Friday 15th May – Kirkby Stephen Community Arts presents ‘Judy’  (12A) – Kirkby Stephen Sports and Social Club

Despite a rise to worldwide prominence early in her career, Judy Garland (Renee Zellweger) finds herself battling with her finances and has two young children, Lorna (Bella Ramsey) and Joey (Lewin Lloyd), to look after.  Struggling to make ends meet, the American actress is offered the chance to work in London, at The Talk of the Town.  It’s not an easy decision for the mother, though, as she is faced with either staying with the children or making enough money to support them.  Deciding to make the trip to England, the Wizard of Oz star settles into her new temporary home, with a string of sold out shows ahead of her.  However, the singer finds it hard to cope with her deteriorating mental health as she clashes with her management and misses her children desperately.

Tuesday 21st May – Eden Hearing Services Drop In Session – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

Eden Hearing Services hold a drop in clinic from 10.00am to 12 noon 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Services include advice on hearing aids and specialist equipment, hearing aids cleaned and retubed, batteries supplied.

Saturday 23rd May – Pentabus Theatre present ‘One Side Lies The Sea’ – Kirkby Stephen Sports and Social Club

We’ve been on a journey around coastal Britain and we’ve met some astonishing people along the way – One Side Lies the Sea shares their stories.  Tales of hope and loss, seas and tides, of quotas and freedom.  From Newlyn to Maryport, Silloth to Hornsea, One Side Lies the Sea, is a musical journey through the brilliant communities that inhibit our coastline.
