Saturday 29th April – Monday 1st May – Annual exhibition  of paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, photography & craft skills by local artists – Warcop Parish Hall

Saturday 6th May – Kirkby Stephen Coronation Celebrations – Kirkby Stephen (various)

‘Wear a Crazy hat’ parade leaving Stainmore Railway Company at 9.30 am.  Free waving flags. Rides and inflatables in the Town Centre. ‘Hunt the Monarch’ competition around the businesses in town.  Forms available from Sandy’s and the Visitors Centre.  Craft Fair in the Mason Hall from 10 am to 4 pm.  Screening of The Coronation at Kirkby Stephen Parish Church from 11 am onwards.

Thursdays 11th & 25th May – Upper Eden Memory Club – Kirkby Stephen Methodist Church

10.30 am to 12 noon.

We continue to meet alternate Thursdays at KIrkby Stephen Methodist Church (opposite the Spar Shop), where we enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee followed by guided activities and usually end with singing some favourite songs of old. For people with memory problems , who are disabled or who are lonely.  Enjoy time with friends.  Also offering help and support for carers. No need to book, just turn up.  Do you know of anyone who may benefit?

Friday 12th May – Kirkby Stephen Hearing Services (by Upper Eden Rotary Club) – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

10 am to 12 noon. Kirkby Stephen Hearing Services run their clinics for anyone needing repairs or servicing to their hearing aids, here at the Local Links on the 2nd Friday of each month.  This service is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY – please ring 07724 132277.

Hearing aid batteries can be provided here at Local Links, free of charge, if you are registered at a doctors in Eden.  Our opening hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am to 12 noon, and 1 pm to 3 pm. Please bring details of the battery size you require.

Saturday 13th May – Eden Animal Rescue Fundraising Stall – The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen

We are selling our usual home-made products. A variety of home baking and preserves.  Gill and Barbara look forward to seeing you all again soon and thank you for your continued support, which is very much appreciated, especially in these difficult times.  The stall will be open from 9.00 am til 1.00 pm.

Sunday 14th May – Plant Swap – Stainmore Parish Hall

10 am to 12 noon.  Come along to Stainmore Parish Hall with your unwanted plants and swap them.  Overflow parking available in the Punch Bowl car park.  If you don’t have plants to bring you can donate to the Hall funds and take one (or more) plants home.  There will be vegetable seedlings, garden shrubs, house plants and more…..Tea, coffee and cake available for just £2.50.  For further information contact Mary Wilson on 07766 546729.

Wednesday 17th May – Howgill Harriers Kirkby Stephen 10K Race – starts Kirkby Stephen Grammar School

Junior Fun Run 6.30 pm £1 entry on the day.  Seniors 7.00 pm online affiliated £8, non affiliated £10.  On the day entry affiliated £10, non affiliated £12.

Thursday 18th May – Warcop Parish Hall Remote Cinema present `Ticket to Paradise’ – Warcop Parish Hall

Starring Julia Roberts and George Clooney.  A man and his ex-wife race to Bali to stop their daughter from marrying a seaweed farmer.

Sunday 21st May – Brough Remote Cinema presents `Empire of Light’ – Brough Memorial Hall

Starring Olivia Coleman and Colin Firth and directed by Same Mendes, this is a powerful and poignant story about human connection and the magic of cinema set in a 1980’s seaside town.

Saturday 27th May – Craft Fair – Orton

Sunday 28th May – Gin Fest – Upper Eden Rugby Club

12 pm to 8 pm.  Tickets £20 includes 2 x gins and Kirkby Stephen Gin Fest glass.  Kids come free! Live music from 1 pm.  Food available. Kids entertainment.  Karaoke from 5.30 pm.  Alternatives to gin available at the bar.  Disco to follow by Upper Eden Rugby Club. Tuesday 30th May – Bread Making Course – Healthy Breadys – Soulby
