Wednesday 2nd May – Repair Cafe – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

From 2 – 4pm.  Kirkby Stephen Repair Cafe helps to reduce waste sent to landfill, saving money and resources by using expert volunteers to fix everyday household items.

We have a friendly team of DIY and sewing experts ready to take on your repairs.  Bring along any clean clothes, electricals, jewellery, toys, small items of furniture etc…that are in need of attention and we will do what we can to help!

Thursdays 3rd, 17th & 31st May – Upper Eden Memory Club – Longway, New Road, Brough

10.30am to 12 noon

Following the success of the Upper Eden Memory Club at Kirkby Stephen we have decided to start a second group in Brough to enable us to continue to accept Clients and Carers into our Kirkby Stephen family. We enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee followed by guided activities and usually end with singing some favourite songs of old.

Saturday 5th May – Kirkby Stephen Bowling Club Open Day

Come along at 2pm and give bowling a try.  It’s great fun for all.  All equipment and instruction provided free of charge, just wear flat shoes.  The Bowling Green is alongside the River Eden, before Frank’s Bridge.

An exhibition of Paintings, Drawings, Sculpture, Ceramics, Photography & Crafts by local artists.  Private Viewing evening for invited guests on Friday 4th May 7pm-9pm.  Original artwork and prints and cards for sale.  Competition, raffle and activities for children.  Arts & Craft demonstrations & workshops.

Monday 14th May –  Cumbria Wildlife Trust – `Watching Bats in Kirkby Stephen’ – Meet Kirkby Stephen Market Square, CA17 4QT, GR: NY 775 088. 

8.30pm

A gentle evening walk around Kirkby Stephen with Rich Flight, Chairman of the South Cumbria Bat Group, to observe bats flying and feeding on the wing.

Tuesday 15th May – Eden Hearing Services Drop In Session – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

Eden Hearing Services hold a drop in clinic from 10.00am to 12 noon 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Services include advice on hearing aids and specialist equipment, hearing aids cleaned and retubed, batteries supplied.

Thursday 17th May – Mini Stompers – Jubilee Park, Kirkby Stephen

This is a monthly gathering for two hours of wooldand fun for 0-5 year olds and their parents, friends or carers.10am to 12pm

Mini Stompers gives families and friends time to get down and dirty (as the opposite of up and clean) with each other and PLAY.  It’s an opportunity to turn off the logistics machine in our brain and really spend some time trying to see that crazy monster in the mud pile which is so real for our wee ones.  Play is the tool our children use to learn how to live life and Mini Stompers is the perfect place for them to use that tool and for you to spend time immersed in their world.
