Sunday 2nd September 2018, 10.30am – 4.30pm, The Moorcock Show

Why not come to a traditional Yorkshire Dales Sheep Show and see the best local breeds competing against each other.There will also be lots of local crafts and food stalls, together with the usual beer tent. For the children there is a bouncy castle and other games. Music will be provided by Hawes Silver Band and then later in the afternoon by a local singer.

Thursdays 6th & 20th September – Upper Eden Memory Club – Longway, New Road, Brough

10.30am to 12 noon

Following the success of the Upper Eden Memory Club at Kirkby Stephen we have decided to start a second group in Brough to enable us to continue to accept Clients and Carers into our Kirkby Stephen family. We enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee followed by guided activities and usually end with singing some favourite songs of old.

Wednesday 12th September 2018 – The Arts Society, Appleby in Westmorland – Appleby Market Hall

`Architecture now’ – lecture by Anthea Streeter.

Thursday 13th September – Westmorland County Show – Lane Farm, Crooklands, LA7 7NH

Located on the fringes of the Lake District, Westmorland County Show is a fantastic day out – voted as one of the UK’s favourite shows and joined by 30,000 visitors each year.  A major livestock Show with classes for cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and alpacas, heavy and light horses too, there’s plenty to see.

Come and meet the foxhounds, get up close to magnificent cattle, marvel at the show jumping, discover the interactive displays in our Learning for Life Marquee, get inspired by the WI’s crafty creations, or cheer on your favourites in the Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling.

Be tempted by artisan chocolates, cheeses, pies, gins, and much more in the North West’s largest local Food Hall, or drop the children off at our creche and enjoy the Show at your own pace.

With the chance to discover the best of farming and the countryside, as well as seeing some of the Country’s top quality livestock, shop til you drop amongst hundreds of trade stands or get involved with our rural craft have-a-go areas, you’ll be spoilt for choice at this year’s Show.

Winner of the Tourism Event of the Year in the Cumbrian Tourism Awards, Westmorland County Show is not to be missed.

Friday 14th September – Twilight Walk – Frank’s Bridge, Kirkby Stephen

Kirkby Stephen Community Arts are partnering with Stomping Ground this Summer to deliver AT THE RIVERSIDE, a programme of free events to celebrate a new river trail for Kirkby Stephen, and supported by Eden Rivers Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund.  Events are open to all ages unless otherwise specified.  For more information visit http://www.kirkbystephencommunityarts.co.uk

6pm.  Join a guided twilight meander along the bosky banks of the Eden.

Saturday 15th September – Sound Walks – Frank’s Bridge, Kirkby Stephen

Kirkby Stephen Community Arts are partnering with Stomping Ground this Summer to deliver AT THE RIVERSIDE, a programme of free events to celebrate a new river trail for Kirkby Stephen, and supported by Eden Rivers Trust and Heritage Lottery Fund.

11am & 2pm.  Field recording meets silent disco… explore the sounds of the river using high tech recording equipment with Sound Artist Dan Fox.  Meet at Frank’s Bridge.  Booking essential: email [email protected]

Tuesday 18th September – Eden Hearing Services Drop In Session – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

Eden Hearing Services hold a drop in clinic from 10.00am to 12 noon 3rd Tuesday of every month.  Services include advice on hearing aids and specialist equipment, hearing aids cleaned and retubed, batteries supplied.

Wednesday 26th September – Citizens Advice Drop in Session – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

10am to 12.30pm.  If you’d like advice on housing issues, getting the most out of your energy, money or benefits, why not come and speak to our adviser.  Sessions are on the 4th Wednesday each month.
