Thursday 1st September – Family Wild Play Day with Stomping Ground – Jubilee Park

11 am to 4 pm.  A day for all the family. Drop in for an hour or stay all day with Stomping Ground. Building dens, crafts, campfire cooking and natural artworks. Playing games, picnics in the meadow, and testing your balance on slacklines or chilling in the hammocks. It all goes on! Can’t wait to meet you!

Saturday 3rd September – Eden Animal Rescue Fundraising Stall – The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen

We are selling our usual home-made preserves, marmalade, picalilli and chutney, plus some seasonal jams when available.  We also do home baking.  Gill and Barbara look forward to see you all again soon and thank you for your continued support, which is very much appreciated, especially in these difficult times.  The stall will be open from 9.00am til 1.30 pm.

Sunday 4th September 2022 – Moorcock Show – Mossdale, Thwaite Bridge (which is on the A684 Hawes/Sedbergh road approx 3miles Sedbergh side of Hawes).

A traditional and one of the oldest Yorkshire Dales sheep shows, were you can see the best of local breeds. Soak up the atmosphere at a traditional  agricultural show a Dales treat not to be missed. Long at the heart of the community, this show can be traced back well over a century and has its own distinct local traditions and rituals. You’ll typically find various breeds of sheep, home produce and crafts, walking stick carving , all set against a musical backdrop of a silver band. There will be plenty of delicious local food and drink to try. The day has always been a chance for isolated farming families to get together and share knowledge and experience and have some fun.

The gates open at 10.30 am with sheep judging starting at 12noon. The show usually concludes at 4.30pm. The entry charge is £5 per adult and children under 18 are free, so is car parking.

 

Tuesday 13th September – Eden Hearing Services – Kirkby Stephen Local Links

10 am to 12 noon. Eden Hearing Services run their clinics for anyone needing repairs or servicing to their hearing aids, here at the Local Links on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.  This service is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY – please ring Robert Bolton on 07846 512366.  Hearing aid batteries can be provided here at Local Links, free of charge, if you are registered at a doctors in Eden.  Our opening hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am to 12 noon, and 1 pm to 3 pm. Please bring details of the battery size you require.

 Saturday 24th September – `Brass, Trains and Drums in the Westmorland Dales’ – Stainmore Railway Company 

All brass players and drummers and their families are warmly invited to Stainmore Railway Company in Kirkby Stephen from 2 pm – 4 pm as part of a project celebrating our Railway Heritage through music.
Please come along to a workshop and get involved in making music with brass and drums, take a ride on a steam train and join our celebration picnic on the platform. Instruments provided or bring your own instrument. Visit the Westmorland Dales website to book your place.
This project has been led by Blue Jam, Drum and Brass who would like to thank Kirkby Stephen Silver Band and Training Band, Appleby Town Band and Melody Makers for creating fabulous music!
