Saturday 2nd September – Eden Animal Rescue Fundraising Stall – The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen
We are selling our usual home-made preserves, marmalade, picalilli and chutney, plus some seasonal jams when available. We also do home baking. Gill and Barbara look forward to see you all again soon and thank you for your continued support, which is very much appreciated, especially in these difficult times. The stall will be open from 9.00am til 1.00 pm.
Saturday 2nd September – Open Day Craft & Food Market – Kirkby Stephen Youth Centre, (Evergreen Building)
All proceeds to KSYC. Bouncy castles, garden games, market stalls, craft stalls, mocktails, sweets and treats, coffee and cakes, drinks for the adults, raffle, tombola, jumble sale, merchandise, live music, Astral circus.
Friday 8th September – Kirkby Stephen Hearing Services – Kirkby Stephen Local Links
10 am to 12 noon. Kirkby Stephen Hearing Services run their clinics for anyone needing repairs or servicing to their hearing aids, here at the Local Links on the 2nd Friday of each month. This service is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY – please ring 07851 080 745
Hearing aid batteries can be provided here at Local Links, free of charge, if you are registered at a doctors in Eden. Our opening hours are Mondays and Wednesdays, 10am to 12 noon, and 1 pm to 3 pm. Please bring details of the battery size you require.
Saturday 9th September – Macmillan Coffee Morning at Warcop Parish Hall
10 to 11.30 am. Drink and cake £4. Donations of cakes and raffle prizes can be left at the hall on the morning of Friday 8th. Thank you.

10 am to 4 pm. £15 per person. Come along and learn to make an item of your choice. Please bring easy or very easy paper pattern, fabric, cotton thread, sharp scissors, scissors for cutting paper, pins, un-picker, french chalk and sewing machine (if you have one) and a packed lunch. Thursdays 14th & 28th September – Upper Eden Memory Club – Kirkby Stephen Methodist Church
10.30 am to 12 noon.
We continue to meet alternate Thursdays at KIrkby Stephen Methodist Church (opposite the Spar Shop), where we enjoy fellowship over tea and coffee followed by guided activities and usually end with singing some favourite songs of old. For people with memory problems , who are disabled or who are lonely. Enjoy time with friends. Also offering help and support for carers. No need to book, just turn up. Do you know of anyone who may benefit?

Friday 15th September – Kirkby Stephen Community Arts Remote Cinema present `Allelujah’ (12A) – Kirkby Stephen Sports and Social Club
Starring : Jennifer Saunders, David Bradley, Russell Tovey, Dame Judi Dench and Sir Derek Jacobi, A welcome love letter to the NHS, this warm and impassioned story comes with an unexpected final twist.
Begins 7.30 pm. Doors open 30 minutes earlier. Adults £5 U18’s £3.
Friday 15th September – Quiz night with pie, peas and pud – Warcop Parish Hall
7.30 pm prompt start. £9 per person including food. Max 6 per team – prizes for top 3 teams! Licensed bar (wine, lager, soft drinks etc available to purchase). Raffle. Saturday 16th September – Coffee Morning – Brough Methodist Church Harvest Festival Celebrations
10.00 to 11.30 am. Donations for Alzheimer’s Society. The Harvest Service will taken by Rev Andrew Sterling at 10.30 am on Sunday 17th September. Refreshments will be served after the service. All welcome.
Saturday 16th September – Brough Farmers and Artisan Market – Brough Memorial Hall
9 am to 12 pm. Featuring the great Courgette Grand Prix, see attached rules for details, it was tremendously exciting last year with a late entry charging into the lead and scooping the trophy.
Sunday 17th September – Harvest celebrations – Afternoon tea – Warcop Parish Hall
For Churches Together – Warcop, Sandford and Musgrave. Afternoon tea follows our harvest service. Donations of tins/packets etc. suitable for the Upper Eden Food Bank will be most welcome.
Thursday 21st September – Warcop Parish Hall Remote Cinema present `Allelujah’ (12A) – Warcop Parish Hall
Starring (amongst others): Jennifer Saunders, David Bradley, Russell Tovey, Dame Judi Dench and Sir Derek Jacobi, Allelujah is a warm and deeply moving story about old age celebrating the spirit of the elderly patients whilst playing tribuet to the deep humanity of the medical staff battling with limited resources and ever-grwing demand.

Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th September – 1940’s weekend – Stainmore Railway, Kirkby Stephen
Steam trains (fares apply), Shed tours, museum and station buffet car, military vehicle and living history displays and period entertainment. No parking at the station – use the vintage bus park and ride.
Saturday 23rd September – Coffee Morning – Brough Sowerby Chapel Harvest Festival
10 am to 11.30 am . You are invited to join us for a coffee morning and bring and buy stall in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Our Harvest Thanksgiving Service will be on Sunday 24th September at 10.30 am and will be followed by lunch. Everyone welcome.

Monday 25th September – Harvest Auction – St Marys Church, Mallerstang
7 pm. Harvest auction with light supper and Christmas cake raffle. If you want to donate produce for the auction, please bring them into the church on Saturday 23rd September between 2 pm and 4 pm.
Thursday 28th September – Basket Making – Stainmore Parish Hall
A bit of a rare opportunity…
On this course you will make a round basket, a form of Irish Skib basket, and will be taught by a new tutor, a professional basket maker from Northumberland. Course suitable for both beginners and improvers. Maximum of eight participants. The day includes all materials and refreshments. Bring your own lunch. Friday 29th September – Coffee morning – Johnstone’s Garage
10 am. In aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Coffee, tea, cakes, tray bakes, scones (gluten free and dairy free options available). Come along and support this great cause. All welcome.

Friday 29th September to Sunday 1st October – Singing Drumlin Celebration – Bowber Head Nature Reserve, Ravenstonedale
10 am to 4 pm. Enjoy a free Aeolian Sound Experience at Bowber Head Nature Reserve at an installation of 20 sound sculptures created by Cumbria Artist Dan Fox on top of this Glacial Hill or Drumlin. Artist Jill Brown has created a set of voiles which will also be displayed during the event celebrating the areas railway line and heritage. This is a FREE drop in event and no booking is required.
